I remember how [personal profile] rose_griffes recently mentioned that the ampersand (&) in AO3 stands for a gen/platonic relationship (not that people always adhere to it) while the slash (/) means a romantic relationship.

So imagine my relief when I was tagging for Dáin Ironfoot's relationships on AO3 and came across this tag suggestion:

A screenshot reading 'Din Ironfoot & Din's War Pig'

All I'm saying is, they had BETTER be using the ampersand convention correctly in this case. I'm not entirely confident of this, sad to say, because well AO3 and also because Dáin and his wife have an & between them in the tag suggestions.

Anyway the fic, Dealing with Dwarves, previously posted to FFN and which I have posted about before, is now posted on AO3 as well. Sadly it does not feature a relationship between him and his war pig, gen or... otherwise, though the creature is mentioned.

It took me a while to figure out the ampersand protocol, so even assuming this tag has always been used correctly, I think it's safe to say that at least some newer users are going to come across it and do a double -take. XD
