Oh man. That was so good, and also made me so sad, just as someone who does talks about queer comics history offline. And I'd never heard that song; I'm totally getting my hands on it. Just... man, so sadly familiar.
Yeah the amount of sheer research in there! The fanvid/essay format is innovative and certainly snappy, but I almost think I'd have preferred a more conventional video essay format because things pass by way too quickly and it would take multiple viewings to take everything in in any detail. The song was totally worth it, though. Such sad lyrics and gentle presentation for a searing effect. :(
Yeah, I totally had to watch the video once for the song, once to pause a ton to catch everything. The song is totally up there with Slim Whitman's "Secret Love" for poignancy, though!
