It's actually pretty common for rape to get covered up in religious scenarios! After all, a lot of chronic abusers like to be in positions of power and respect for obvious reasons, and who would be less suspect than a priest? (Well, before the Catholic Church scandal. BUT BEFORE THAT.)
And Mom was REAL big on 'forgiveness,' which I'm pretty sure was drilled into her due to the family's strict religion. Too bad 'forgiveness' meant, 'give more kids to the rapist.'
Some of the arguments I've seen about consent, by people who keep wanting to make certain types of rape okay, are just GROSS.
