I could live with being on a playing field if I were actually allowed to fight and win; say, if I could laughingly tell an interested man, "Fuck off, asshole,"

There was a guy in high school we knew who was like this. It actually made him extremely likeable! He was our first experience with a guy who noted our body, but in such a way that we never felt skeeved out or afraid, because we knew we could always tell him he was full of it and he'd take it with grace and cheer. (We ended up basing Thomas off him, because his behavior made such an impression on us.)
