I've actually had shockingly little trouble with spam on LJ or DW. I don't know if I just had luck or what; there were a couple spam accounts that friended me ages ago, but I haven't had a problem with any of those in years, I think! Not like tumblr, where I was constantly having to weed out the pornbots. (Seriously why are there so many pornbots. Legit porn artists who are real people have been run off because of the new policy AND THEIR USERNAMES HAVE BEEN TAKEN OVER BY PORNBOTS. AUGH.)
I am not certain whether my journal is in the site-wide search; I'm presuming yes, since I do want it to be findable. But I've kept my account searchable only to me, and now I'm thinking I might want it searchable by access list!
BTW, do you remember that "Running Away With The Fairies" post you showed me ages ago? It looks like that LJ has been deleted, and I can't find the essay any longer. I don't suppose you have a copy anywhere, or know the OP? *puppy eyes*
